Originally constructed in 1908, this former silent cinema is now a versatile event space in historic downtown St. Johns in Portland, OR. The two-story building offers two different spaces, each with separate entrances, rates, policies and facilities. La Paloma is here to help you design a perfect and unique experience. We are in the immediate neighborhood of incredible food, artisans, and creative services to add to the success of your event.

Skylight Ballroom

The Skylight Ballroom is a large, versatile space to host your event. Featuring high ceilings, plenty of light, and original hardwood floors, this blank canvas is yours for the creating!

  • Your on-site manager is in place to answer any questions that you might have about the space and your rental.

    Open Catering Policy
    If you need help with planning, we’re here to help. For those who prefer a DIY approach, we support that and do not charge a catering fee. We are surrounded by incredible food and beverage services and can connect you to any local resources you may need.

    Parking
    Our non-metered parking lot is available for guests and makes load in and load out a breeze. Two private spaces come with your rental and can accommodate two cars or a food cart. The rest of the lot is on a first come first serve basis.

The Loft

Our Loft is above the event space and available for rent to accommodate guests or provide additional space for your event.

  • We used the upstairs space at La Paloma for our recent board retreat for our business association. I can’t tell you how delighted we all were from the moment we walked in! Everything was welcoming and beautifully appointed and convenient to use - it was immaculate, and homey while perfectly business appropriate. It was perfect for doing a larger discussion at the table with 11 people and breaking up in a small groups. The kitchen was very well stocked and easy to use for our potluck. For such a long meeting (4 hours), we could have stayed even longer, that’s how comfortable it was. The location right in downtown St Johns was great. An absolute gem of a spot, and Kate was so easy to work with! Highly recommend.

  • We had a wonderful time at La Paloma recently for an employee celebration. The space was set up perfectly for our needs and the photo booth was an added special feature. We had about 20 folks attend the event and everyone had a great time. We will definitely be back for celebrations in the future as it is really conveniently located in the heart of St. Johns and offers all we needed.

  • I just turned the big 5-0 and reserved La Paloma's event space to host a cocktail hour for neighbors and friends. The space is warm, bright, clean and spacious....perfect for a party. We had a great time and highly recommend both the event space and the beautiful apartment for business or personal gatherings. The proprietors Kate and Kieth were easy to work with and I'll definitely keep La Paloma in mind for future events.

  • We rented the loft space to host a dozen or so friends for a holiday party. This space was absolutely perfect. Everything from the layout, to the carefully chosen furniture, to the thoughtful appointments really come together to make a really special space that lends itself to making special memories. There was plenty of room for everyone to hang out comfortably, the kitchen was big and well equipped, and the vintage dining table made the perfect gathering place for our holiday meal. This is definitely going to be our go-to whenever we want to host a large group!

  • I attended a board leadership training at the La Paloma Event space this weekend. What a gorgeous and spacious location to host a meeting like this. We had plenty of room to work, be comfortable in our break out groups, use the kitchen for our potluck meal and plan our goals for the coming year. It is a phenomenal secret retreat spot in the heart of the St Johns neighborhood.
